Moulds

Picture There are varies pieces of equipment used to shape rams horns for walking sticks, particularly the part which involves bulking the neck or crown or the rams horn walking sticks. Many walking sticks makers have different ways of shaping rams horn, with the aid of a car jack in a frame, can be squeezed together under much more pressure than a vice.

One jig is the picture on the right, just a flat piece of steel welded to steel plate, very simple but very good and there are many more designs of walking sticks handles to choose from, you can at a turn up for the tip of the walking sticks or this can be done later.

Another jig is moulds, when you insert the rams horn into the moulds and place the moulds in a vice then squeeze them together, the moulds for the walking sticks handle are 2 pieces of steel, one with a U cut out of it and the other piece of steels fits into the U cut and the handle is placed in the middle, when you use the vice it brings the horn together.
