Nordic walking is defined as fitness walking with two specially designed walking sticks. While our walkers, backpackers and hikers have used the basic concept for a long time, Marko Kantaneva only published the sport of Nordic walking in 1997. The concept of using the walking sticks was the basic off-season ski training activity.
